Description

JCCC students conducted a genotype and phenotype test to determine if dogs at a local shelter carried a gene on chromosome 6. This gene has been linked to hypersocial and friendly behaviour in dogs. A test was conducted with both familiar and unfamiliar people to observe their behaviour, and they were given a friendliness score. Samples of DNA were taken to find the friendliness gene through extraction, PCR, and gel electrophoresis.
