Description
Antibiotic resistance is important to study and understand because the effects of antibiotic resistance are incredibly hard to treat, even with modern medicine. These are bacteria that are resistant to normal antibiotics. In my research I started with a serial dilution of a soil sample from the ground. Further research was done by examining how the bacteria found in that sample was responding when plated against SAFE relatives. I was able to isolate and compare the ZOI that showed up against my serial dilution plate. Upon screening the bacteria I had success with my candidate #8 bacteria. It had shown clear signs of ZOI against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas putida. This was a good sign of antimicrobial properties within this bacteria. I plan to do further research on these bacteria through different staining methods. It will continue to give me more information on this bacteria and what properties it has. All contributing to a broader understanding of antibiotic resistance and potential treatments.
