Description

Due to a push to discover proteins in order to expand the understanding of organisms and possibly develop inhibitors and drugs, a large database of over 9,000 proteins and their structure has been made. Despite their presence in the database, many of the proteins have no assigned or discovered function. To solve this a protein from the database, 1s12, was selected and tested. Examination began with its amino acid sequence using BLAST and InterPro, then its structure with Foldseek, lastly using an AI machine to examine the protein for a supposed function. After examination, the majority of tests point to 1s12 functioning as a ribosomal processing protease.
