Description

This research project was to investigate and identify the function of protein 1i6n, a protein with an unassigned function. Since the mid 2010s, thousands of proteins have been determined and placed into a protein database, many placed without an identified function. With aid from protein analysis databases such as BLAST, InterPro, FoldSeek, and CLEAN; results indicated that protein 1i6n is a 2-keto-myo-inositol isomerase. Whilst this approach of identifying function of an unknown protein shows potential, further research and tests are needed for definitive function.
