Description

The topic we are covering in the Tiny Earth Research Project is finding antibiotic organisms for common pathogenic diseases through a series of laboratory experiments. To find antibiotic properties we collected soil samples, isolated bacteria, and tested for antibiotic activity. The problem addressed by the research is the lack of antibiotic treatment for common diseases in hospitals. This problem exists because there are diseases that are antibiotic resistant. We addressed the research question by finding candidates through our experiments that may have antibiotic properties that could treat these diseases. So far in my research, I have found a candidate that is resistant to the safe ESKAPES. The impact of my research is that I may have found an antibiotic that could ultimately treat one of the ESKAPE pathogens.
