Description
Antibiotic resistance has become an appalling issue to deal with when it comes to curing the sick.The fight for this is extremely important because the medical field is running out of antibiotics to use to treat and cure patients. The more harmful the pathogen is exposed by the antibiotics, the less likely we will be able to fight the pathogenic bacteria off. Through the semester we have tested our soil candidates to see what inhibited these safe relatives to find our strongest competitor. “Lucas”, my candidate, seems to be a good applicant for changing that. Lucas inhibited 3 possible strains of Safe Relative pathogens. He inhibited the safe relatives of the ESKAPE pathogens Staphylococcus epidermidis, Bacillus subtilis, and Acinetobacter baylyi : The location for my microbe Lucas was in a flower bed in my backyard. I will continue to further my research with candidate Lucas in future experiments.
