Description
Antibiotic resistance is becoming a major health issue worldwide making it harder to treat bacterial infections effectively. Many drug-resistant bacteria make standard treatments useless. Many soil bacteria produce antibiotics.By growing soil samples and selecting different colonies to test for antibiotics researchers looked for ways to inhibit ESKAPE pathogens. Bacteria were isolated from the soil and different colonies were tested for antibiotic activity to see if they could inhibit the safe ESKAPEs. My candidate inhibited E. coli. This was screened three times total to ensure both a pure culture via streak plate as well as against safe ESKAPEs. This research looks at how to combat antibiotic resistance with soil bacteria that could help treat infections that are hard to cure and affect public health.
