Description
JCCC has partnered with Tiny Earth, a program that works with tens of thousands of students across 15 countries to discover new antibiotics for use in the medical field by evaluating soil. In my microbiology class, we were asked to collect a random soil sample near where we lived and evaluate it for the presence of microbes. We then tested our own microbes against many different types of bacteria very similar to potentially deadly infectious bacteria seen in hospitals to see if they secreted antibiotics. This presentation is over the microbe that grew in my soil that had the strongest response to all of these types of bacteria.
