Description
This research is important because there has been a significant decrease in antibiotic discovery at a time when it is needed the most, due to the increasing number of antibiotic-resistant pathogens. In my study, I used my JCCC soil against ESKAPE pathogens and found that one of my bacterial Cloudy cloud showed a zone of inhibition against Pseudomonas putida. During this study, I want to find out what additional test can be achieved from using Cloudy cloud to evaluate its potential of helping healthcare from antibiotic-resistant pathogens. To achieve this, I created an antibiotic screening plate and applied a lawn of Pseudomonas putida to it. I then added bacteria from my JCCC master plate. After that process was complete, I was able to make a streak plate to create isolated colonies of Cloudy cloud. Once it was incubated in the right conditions. This research may be a step forward in discovering ways to help fight antibiotic-resistant pathogens and improve healthcare.
