Description

Monarch butterflies use milkweed to feed, live, etc. Also, milkweed is the only source for butterfly larvae to help them feed and cocoon, then they become beautiful monarchs. The researchers used planting pots, soil, and sand, with 10 each in 3 different pots, but one didn’t work, and that was sand only. Research shows that moisture and temperature sped up vernalization. Thirty prairie milkweed were put in soil containers of soil and sand within plastic to cold, moist stratify the seeds. Following a month, the seeds were watered and placed under a grow light. The results were not supported as the seeds didn’t germanite at all because they dried out. Future studies show that we should’ve put them into a few Petri dishes to have a cover, and that way, they could germinate, grow, and hold moisture.
