Description
Monitoring and assessing water quality is essential for identifying potential contaminants and ensuring the safety of the community. Clean water and sanitation is one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, so it is important to study the water quality in our community regularly and take steps to improve upon the current system. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 interconnected global objectives aimed at promoting peace, prosperity, and environmental sustainability by 2030. On the JCCC campus, water samples were collected from several different sites and tested for numerous analytes. Water samples were analyzed using test strips, a pH meter, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, and a conductivity meter. Testing of the drain water samples indicated elevated levels of hardness and alkalinity, which can impact water quality and contribute to scaling issues.
