Description
The goal of my poster project is to find new antimicrobials. Finding new antibiotics is important with the increasing prevalence of antibiotic resistance instead of the current sentence. To find a soil bacteria that shows signs of inhibition, I started by creating serial dilutions, followed by picking bacteria colonies off those plates. From there I created a master plate of specific colonies. Following this we did antibiotic screening plates to find the most promising bacteria, then I created a streak plate, followed by metabolic testing, PCR, and gel electrophoresis to determine the identity of the chosen candidate.
