Description
Dangerous toxins and contaminants such as lead, petroleum, and other inorganic contaminants are found in water originating from the JCCC parking lot storm drain runoff. Given that the sample being analyzed is from the west basin, we must ensure the basin is doing its job at filtering runoff water and that quality standards are being maintained. The basin is a part of the sustainability system implemented at JCCC to purify the thousands of liters of rainwater that fall into the parking lot every year. By keeping data on the contaminants found in the water after undergoing one stage of purification, the data can be used to further make conclusions as to how this system must be maintained and what certain methods of purification can and cannot do for the water quality.
