Description
This poster will focus on the isolation of bacteria from soil that inhibit the safe relatives ESKAPE pathogens. The ESKAPE pathogens are becoming more and more resistance to the existing antibiotics and there is a need for new antibiotics. This problem exist because of the misuse of antibiotics over time. We are addressing this issue by using the Tiny Earth project as a guideline to isolate bacteria from soil and test for inhibition against the safe relatives of the ESKAPE pathogens. We were able to isolate one bacterial candidate that was able to inhibit one of the safe relatives ESKAPE pathogens. This bacterial candidate we identified could potentially be used to make new antibiotics and maybe even if modify it further to avoid the development of resistance from the bacteria.
