Description

Safe and clean drinking water is important for all humans across the globe. Water is required for many different reasons: cleaning, washing, and drinking. An important initiative on the JCCC campus has focused on the quality of the runoff water from the parking lots. The runoff water is directed to a stormwater basin on the south side of campus which further filters the water. Samples of water were collected after the water passed through the basin. Our experiments revealed low alkalinity, high total chlorine concentration and high copper ion concentration. Flame atomic absorption spectroscopy will be used to determine a more accurate copper ion centration.
