Description
Bacillus safensis is a Gram-positive bacteria which forms spores and has the shape of a rod. Several strains of the bacteria have been observed. It was first discovered on a space craft. This particular strain was collected by a JCCC microbiology student and was shown to inhibit both E. coli and P. putida when grown competitively. In this research, we used various methods to isolate the antibiotic produced by this bacterium.
