Description
Antibiotic resistance from the ESKAPE pathogens have become more of a problem in healthcare. What used to be treated with antibiotics, has now become life threatening. Finding new antibiotics has become more crucial in order to fight off these common bacterial infections. I have discovered an unknown bacteria, SB010, in a soil sample that has shown zones of inhibition for the ESKAPE pathogens, Enterobacter aerogenes, Staphylococcus epidermidis, and Enterococcus faecalis. SB010 is gram negative and spore free bacteria that is coccobacillus with cells that are 10 pico-meters in length. The colonies are convex, smooth, entire, round, orange-yellow morphology. In the next weeks before the presentation I will be identifying the bacteria and do more metabolic testing.
