Description
In the 1940’s the use of antibiotics started to become widespread. Antibiotic resistance is becoming an increasing problem. Finding new antibiotics or anything to do with medicine takes a lot of time and resources. There’s only so much funding that goes towards research and overtime as antibiotic resistance became a real issue, we stopped the production of new antibiotics. In this lab we are trying to research new possible antibiotics found in the bacteria of our soil. We’ll isolate potential candidates that inhibit gram positive and gram negative organisms. Sequencing and biochemical testing will confirm the identity of the organism.
