Description

Lysinibacillus pakistanensis was previously shown to inhibit the growth of E. faecalis, E. coli, A. faecalis, and P. aeruginosa when grown competitively using a cross streak method. Organic extracts from Lysinibacillus pakistanensis showed inhibition towards S. epidermidis and E. aerogenes in subsequent bioassays using TLC–bioautography. Further work to separate the components in the extract mixture and isolate the antimicrobial compound using both column chromatography and TLC will be discussed. Proteus penneri was previously shown to inhibit the growth of P. aeruginosa, A. faecalis, and E. faecalis when grown competitively using a cross streak method. Results from TLC-bioautography of the organic extract from Proteus penneri will also be discussed.
