Description

Many soil microbes have provided new antimicrobials. This semester microbes were cultured and tested to see if they may produce a novel antimicrobial compound. Research with serial dilution and screening plates were done in order to find a possible candidate that will fight antibiotic resistance. In this research, candidate number ten, “Belly,” was found to create a zone of inhibition to a safe relative, Acinetobacter baylyi. Next steps in the research include identifying the "Belly" the bacteria.
