Description
Emerald ash borers (shortened, EABs) are green insects that originate from China. They are considered an invasive species in the United States, with current populations ravaging the Eastern coast, and more populations migrating farther west into Kansas and Nebraska. These insects burrow into native Kansas ash trees and effectively destroy them from the inside out. There are several treatments used to eradicate the populations from trees, such as injections on trees, pesticide sprays, and introducing native predators from China to the affected areas, such as wasps that prey on the ash borers and their larvae. This research project will discuss the pros and cons of these methods.
