Description
Serratia marcescens has a unique and colorful history with humans. From its earliest belief to be a supernatural “bloody” omen, to its decades in military testing, S. marcescens has intrigued researchers for two centuries. Initially thought to be nonpathogenic, this microbe has proven through many serious cases to be quite the opposite. Through it’s now known characteristics, we can better understand why.
