Description
The purpose of this project is to discover antibiotics or antibacterial components in a collection of Emma’s soil samples. Soil samples contain lots of bacteria, non-pathogenic and soil is an ideal environment for inhibitory compounds. This research of the soil sample is important in discovering antibiotics. On the soil sample I first checked for soil diversity and population by performing a serial dilution to obtain a countable plate of colonies, then went to create a master plate, then a challenging plate, streak plate, did a gram, spore stain, acid-fast stain. I chose my candidate ES003. Then I performed PCR testing, due to timing, the results will be available by the time I'm presenting. I will also perform Gel electrophoresis. All the results for these tests will be presented on my poster board.
