Description

Microbes are getting harder and harder to treat because of the resistance to antibiotics. To find more helpful antibiotics a research project was performed. At the start of the project a soil sample was taken and serial dilution. The serial dilution was mainly to find candidates that have a zone of inhibition. The results were fourteen candidates that had a zone of inhibition. To isolate the individual a master plate was created, only seven out of fourteen were successfully isolated. To test the candidate if they can inhibit the growth of the safe relatives of the ESKAPE pathogens. The results from the antibiotic screening only showed one successful candidate. The candidate was labeled number twelve and tested on the bacteria called Staphylococcus epidermidis. The candidate showed a zone of inhibition with Staphylococcus epidermidis one of the safe relatives of ESKAPE pathogens. A quadrant streak needed to be obtained from this candidate for isolated colonies. The hope for the finding in the research, and the candidate will be used in future research.
