Description
The purpose of this project is to examine a sample of dirt from my backyard and see if it produces antibiotics. Procedures, such as serial dilutions will allow me to determine if the sample has bacteria that is antibiotic producing, by observing zones of inhibitions, and isolating bacteria to obtain pure colonies. The candidate that shows a bigger zone of inhibition was tested against ESKAPE pathogens that are either Gram-negative or Gram-positive. Once results of the tester strains are obtained, other tests will be performed to determine the type of bacteria that is producing antibiotics, and DNA will be attempted to be copied from the original antibiotic-producing bacteria.
