Description
In today’s world, a growing threat to the human race is bacteria resistant to antibiotics. It is a very concerning matter, but there are ways we can continue looking for the ‘penicillin of our time’. Soil is a great resource for finding bacteria. This experiment shows the results of diluting soil, singling out one bacteria, seeing if it is antibiotic resistance, and performing DNA sequencing. The singled out bacteria, AG011, was found to be effective against the ESKAPE pathogen Enterococcus faecalis. DNA sequencing will identify the bacteria and the name of this bacteria. This abstract was written before the final results were in, so come back and check out how this story ends!
