Description

Antibiotic resistance is very crucial research. Several people are getting sick and not surviving from infections because antibiotics are not killing the bacteria like they used to. It is proven that there are antibiotics in soil bacteria that are killing infections that are said to be resistant. I used a method of plating serial dilutions to grow the bacteria from the collected soil samples. Then I challenged the bacteria against the ESKAPE pathogens to find candidates to do further research on. Once I chose my candidate I did some staining techniques to gather more data on the unknown bacteria. One of the satins I did was a gram stain. This allowed me to determine if my candidate was gram negative or gram positive. The bacteria was pink under the microscope which means it is gram negative. I also did a spore stain. This showed me that my candidate did not have hardly any cells that spored yet. All of this data I am collecting will help me determine what my bacteria is and can be used to to stop antibiotic resistance.
