Description

The issue of antibiotic resistance has been around for many years and is an issue that many have continued to work on by finding new antibiotic making bacteria. The bacteria we have been studying resides in soil and must first be cultured and examined before it can go through further testing against pathogenic bacteria. While several types of bacteria were found to be effective against the pathogenic relatives, there was one bacteria that was cultured that showed more promise and effectiveness than the other cultures that were examined. Once this bacteria was isolated, the goal is to run multiple tests on this bacteria to look at different components on a microscopic level. We also run a PCR test for genetic decoding to compare to a database to see what category of bacteria has been found. This will kick start the process for further experimentation of the bacteria since we will be doing all of the basic screening.
