Description

We are searching for antibiotic producing bacteria. We obtained numerous bacteria colonies from conducting serial dilutions from our soil sample. After choosing bacteria that appeared to have zones of inhibition, I created a master plate to isolate those colonies. We tested which our candidates would reproduce zones of inhibition with the ESKAPE safe relatives. My chosen candidate produced zones of inhibition on most of the ESKAPE safe relatives except Pseudomonas putida. Too further isolate my chosen candidate colonies; I created quadrant plates to have individual colonies of a single chosen candidate. To identify the genus of our bacteria, we did DNA sequencing testing, and metabolic testing as well.
