Description
The goal of this screening project was to find a microorganism or microorganisms that demonstrate the potential to produce antibiotics. A soil sample was serially diluted to obtain bacteria. The bacteria were grown on agar plates and challenged against 6 known ESKAPE pathogens. Organisms that inhibited the growth of at least one ESKAPE pathogen was isolated and tested throughout the semester for identification. From my soil sample, none of the organisms inhabited the growth of any ESKAPE pathogen and they were discarded. An organism that inhibited the growth of four ESKAPE pathogens was adopted from a peer.
