Description
For this project, the soil I used was collected by Heather Seitz on January 26, 2022. I chose my microbe from hummus soil at a depth of about 15.24cm. It was found in a treed area by a pond in Springhill, KS. The GPS coordinates were 38 degrees 44’ 14” N and 94 degrees 52’ 49” W. The temperature was 12.2 degrees Celsius and the pH was neutral. While doing research on the soil sample that Heather Seitz collected on January 26, 2022, I have found that the microbe I chose inhibits the safe relative Enterococcus faecalis and Staphylococcus epidermidis. This finding is important because I may have a microbe that could potentially be used in an antibiotic against the ESKAPE pathogens Enterococcus faecium and Staphylococcus aureus.
