Description
With antibiotic resistance on the rise, it is our job to help find new antibiotic options to save lives. We looked no further than the ground we walk across to discover new antimicrobials in the soil. We took the soil samples and diluted them to find zones of inhibition. We put the bacterial through strenuous testing against safe relatives of the ESKAPE pathogens. As we weeded out the weak from the strong. Further testing was needed to identify the organisms with metabolic testing and sequencing. We are hopeful to find a candidate that can lead pharmaceutical companies in the right direction in producing a new antibiotic.
