Description

Dermatomyositis is an abnormal inflammatory response in the body. Often this presents itself with muscle weakness and a dark red rash above the inflamed joint or muscle. This is caused by the body's own cells attacking the blood vessels closest to the skin. Since it attacks the blood vessels, therefore it affects a wide majority of things, such as muscles. Muscles need a steady flow of blood, which is now being attacked by the immune system. This creates the weak and stiff decline of muscle.
