Description
Most antibiotics come from microbes found in the soil all across the world. The purpose of this project is to dilute common Kansas soil in order to find a countable number of bacteria that inhibits the growth of known pathogens. The bacteria I chose to research seemed to best inhibit the growth of other bacteria around it in an agar culture. Once my bacterium was chosen, it was sent off to a lab for genetic sequencing to tell me how similar my bacterium is to known bacteria. With this information, I can tell what my bacteria is and if it inhibits any known pathogens.
