Description
2 million people a year acquire infections that are resistant and untreatable to antibiotics. Each year bacteria becomes more resistant. The purpose of the SWI research is to find antibiotics in the soil that can be used to treat infections or harmful bacteria. Multiple tests have been done in hopes of finding antibiotics. So far one colony is a possible candidate. I am currently testing this colony on several types of Gram Negative and Gram Positive bacteria. Metabolic testing and sequencing will confirm the identity of the candidate.
