Description
At the end of January/beginning of February I collected dirt in my backyard, around a pond in Overland Park, Kansas. One of the best ways to find new and upcoming antibiotics is through soil samples. The soil that I collected has been in the lab now for quite some time trying to find bacteria that could be any new possible antibiotic. How am I trying to find the possible antibiotics? So far I have used serial dilution tests that I put onto petri dishes in hope that something would grow. After I created the masterplate from the serial dilution tests, I tested other strains against what I found in my soil and they are currently in the incubator so soon I will see if my bacteria from the soil will grow around the other strains or not.
