Description
Through an initial dilution of a soil sample collected I grew various cultures and tester strains (ESKAPE pathogens) to test antibiotic resistance. I tested both the candidates against these pathogenic strains, which yielded neutral results. I also tested the pathogens against the candidates using a different method that showed more promise. From the initial dilution plate, and nearly 20 tests from my 7 total candidates, I have learned to identify different forms of colonies that do and do not show certain properties pertaining to resistance. From a master plate I found streak testing to be successful. Though only 2 or 3 of my candidates showed promise I feel that through multiple methods I have found a candidate worthy of further study.
