Abstract
In a 2023 campaign launched by the City of Lawrence, Kansas, housed individuals were encouraged to report their unhoused (or homeless) neighbors to the government. The unhoused person would then face a warning to vacate, in addition to potential disciplinary action such as individual citations on the grounds of illegal camping, even though there are not enough approved spaces to which they can move (Hornbostel). Unfortunately, measures that have led to the criminalization of those without a roof over their heads have not been isolated incidents.
