Description
An academic library may have hundreds of database subscriptions. Librarians create dozens of research guides to point the way to the best resources for subjects and classes. But manually creating links between appropriate library resources and the hundreds of college courses offered every semester is prohibitively labor intensive. The answer is to automate that linking process. Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) allows applications to interact with learning management systems (LMS) in defined ways. Springshare's LibApps Automagic LTI Tool makes getting the right library resources for each course into the hands of students easier. Discussion will center on how Kansas State University implemented the Automagic Tool for the Spring 2017 semester. Details like getting the metadata established for connecting the right database subjects and the right research guides with the right courses will be offered. Examples of the effect on guide usage will be shared.
