Description
The 21st century explosion of instantaneous electronic news information via technology devices has proven convenient and catastrophic. In addition to the traditional Associated Press and Reuters, there is a spike in independent news streams with far right, far left and fuzzy middle agendas, which may or may not be accurate. Academic information, on the other hand, maintains a strong distinction between what is considered a primary source, acceptable research methods, and peer review processes to determine the accuracy of information that moves the body of knowledge forward versus information stirred up in a cauldron of private agendas. The question to be address is, Can government and the press learn from academic standards to alleviate or reduce fake news?
