Description

This research was aimed towards finding bacteria with antimicrobial properties to help with the growing problem of antibiotic resistance. I started with a serial dilution of a soil sample, and grew the bacteria on an agar plate. I then challenged different bacteria from the plate against known ESKAPE pathogen relatives. I could not find any bacteria with potential, so I adopted a candidate from a classmate. I then gram stained, spore stained, PCR, and sent the candidate to the lab for sequencing. The name of the bacteria will be revealed at the symposium.
