Description

As the landmark Students’ Right to Their Own Language Statement approaches the fiftieth anniversary of its ratification in 1974, those of us charged with writing, speaking, literacy and rhetorical education at all levels find ourselves at a moment where we need to clarify both our commitments to a statement that has been the official policy of our largest professional association and our vision for what the statement can offer us now. In this era that poses constantly emerging new challenges to go with longstanding ones still in need of redress, we will think together about how to approach our teaching when we are forced to deal with both constant change and a constantly increasing tempo of change.
