Book review: MERLO for deep learning of meaning-equivalence concepts
Abstract
The reviewer explores Masha Etkind and Uri Shafrir’s “Pedagogy for Conceptual Thinking and Meaning Equivalence: Emerging Research and Opportunities” (2020). The MERLO approach focuses on concepts within a particular learning domain or context, and it involves having learners differentiate between concepts that have superficial similarities or superficial differences in order to identify those with true meaning-equivalence, to improve learning, design, decision-making, and other aspects.
