Description

Many new viruses and disease are being created every day and the finding of new antibiotics continues to get harder to fight these diseases. This research is important because we are studying the different types of bacterium in the soil that make antibiotics. I am sampling soil from my backyard to see if there are any new antibiotics that can be found to treat infections. By using soil dilutions and creating a patch plate I was able to create several plates with new candidates to test against the ESKAPE pathogens by using the Cavalier method. So far I have found two possible candidates that could be a possible antibiotic against Streptococcus. I hope to see with my research the finding of a new antibiotic to fight against Streptococcus.
